Ever struggle with sticking eggs, or your fried potatoes breaking apart with the perfect crispy part stuck and burning on the bottom of the pan. One factor to help in cooking with cast iron is a good spatula. Here is what we have found as the perfect spatula for cast iron.
Admittedly, it takes time and practice to get good with cast iron. Having well polished and seasoned pans also goes a long ways. But having a great spatula with a semi flexible thin edge can make or break those eggs and potatoes in the morning. i recommend breaking the eggs in the hot skillet first!
I am not saying the job cannot be done, I went through a number of different cooking utensils before finding the metal fish spatulas. I was using plastic fish spatulas, they always left a layer of food stuck to the bottom of the pan requiring extra cleaning and frustration. This was also hindered by modern unpolished cast iron which can be nonstick….with lots of oil and seasoning. I will make another post on polishing and researching cast iron in the future!
